hi, can this item take a thickness measurement on soft & hard urethane products?
Can this product measure the remaining wall thickness of a rubber lined (hot vulcanised) steel pipe by measuring from the outside of the pipe only. the steel wall thickness is 25mm and the Rubber thickness (natural rubber) is 20mm.
Hello Roger, thank you for your question. The ultrasonic thickness gauge will only measure the layer of material closest to the sensor of the gauge. Another issue you will have is that you would need to change the settings to get accurate readings on different materials. The setting to measure steel is different than to measure rubber. The manual provided with the ultrasonic thickness gauge will explain how to set the gauge.
How does this unit perform when measuring the thickness of layered materials? We need to measure the thickness of concrete lined ductile iron pipe.
