When selecting a cash register for your business, there are a few decisions you’ll need to make in order to ensure the right purchase.

How much counter space do you have?

If your space is limited you’ll need to choose a small cash register such as one measuring about 12 inches.

Type of screen

Would you prefer a standard or LCD screen or 5 point touch screen? LCD screens are easier to read and often provide more advanced technology. They are also more expensive, so if you are on a tight budget, you’ll want to shy away from the LCD screen.

How much security do you need?

Along with a locked drawer, you may also want to look for a cash register with password protection for added security.

Do you need other features?

Some other features available on today’s cash registers include receipt printing, inventory tracking or pre-programmed tax rates. Other cash registers are also specific to a particular retail industry such as those for grocers which include built-in weights or scales.
